Another area of diversity is the professional background of Professional Pension Trustees. No longer do Professional Pension Trustees only come from an actuarial or legal background.

Diversity of professional backgrounds and specialist expertise amongst its trustees can help a Professional Pension Trustee firm demonstrate and utilise a diverse breadth of experience and skills.

Nearly one-third (29%) of all trustees responding to our survey were from an actuarial background.

“Other” backgrounds reported by respondents included pensions administration / operations, chartered accountant, and a combination of backgrounds.

Observations:

29% of trustees across All Firms are from an actuarial background.
18% of trustees across All Firms are from a business/finance/covenant background.
Only 7% of trustees across All Firms are from an investment background.
